With Schapelle's chances of receiving a Presidential Pardon, on humanitarian grounds, drawing ever closer, the Australian media are, (no doubt upon instructions from their Master, the Australian Government), trying to peddle to the Australian public the notion that Schapelle Corby must first admit guilt before a pardon will be granted.
The FACT of the matter is this - the notion is a myth. There is nothing in Indonesia's 'Law On Pardon' - 22 of 2002 that requires it.
The 'Law On Pardon' is currently undergoing changes, but until the old law (22 of 2002) is repealed in favour of the new law, it remains the law.
This link will take you to the 'Law On Pardon' 22 of 2002. As you will see, when you check this link out, there is not a single mention anywhere in the law of the need for a convict to admit guilt before a Presidential Pardon can be granted.
